Program Description

The Aviation Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Minor provides students with a comprehensive understanding of unmanned aircraft technologies, operations, and applications within the rapidly growing drone industry. This interdisciplinary program combines foundational knowledge in aviation with hands-on experience in UAS design, flight operations, regulations, and data analysis.

Students learn the principles of remote sensing, flight planning, airspace management, and FAA compliance while gaining proficiency in operating small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) in a variety of environments. The curriculum emphasizes safety, ethical use, and real-world applications of drone technology in fields such as aviation, agriculture, emergency response, surveying, environmental monitoring, and logistics.
