Application Types
There are several application types. Each application type is defined below. Please be sure to complete the correct type of application at calbaptist.edu.
Degree-seeking: An application for a student who is seeking a credential or an associate, bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree.
Re-admit: An application for a student who is returning to CBU to complete a degree program after missing one or more mandatory semesters of attendance.
Pre-college Credit: An application for a student taking college coursework as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior high school student.
Special Student: An application for a student who is not working toward a degree at California Baptist University. Special Students must be a high school Sophomore or higher. Students offered Special Student status are eligible to enroll for up to thirty (30) total semester units. To continue beyond thirty (30) units, the student must meet admission requirements for Standard status. Unofficial transcripts demonstrating eligibility must be submitted for courses that have a prerequisite or are 300/400 level.
Audit: An application for a student who is taking courses not for credit at California Baptist University. For more information on auditing a class, please see the Academic Information section of this catalog.
Transcripts
Official transcript(s) must be original transcript(s) in a sealed envelope or in an electronic format sent directly from the school or authorized third party. The full name on the transcript must match the applicant’s/student’s name on file. The name on file must be the applicant’s/student’s legal name according to the Social Security Administration or a valid passport. Any deviation will require proof of a legal name change unless it is a married last name change (only) and was originally disclosed on the student’s application. All records not issued in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
Terminology
First Name: Legal First Name as documented by the Social Security Administration or a valid passport.
Last Name: Legal Last Name as documented by the Social Security Administration or a valid passport.
Sex: Biological sex assigned at birth.
International Student: An on-campus student studying on a valid non-immigrant visa status or a non-US citizen taking courses outside of the United States.
Application Deferral: Admitted students may defer their acceptance for up to one full academic year without needing to re-apply. Deferred students may retain their original merit scholarship (if applicable). Exclusions apply for select academic programs.
